![]() first of all: thank you for all the really nice comments i get from here. until recently, i was wondering why only a very small fraction of them are getting to me via e-mail. case resolved: my overactive spam filter had them all saved up for me...i should say 'piled it all up' :) so, in case anyone is wondering why my response is sort of slow. i try to get back to you as good as i can. be sure to know, that i read all your comments carefully and appreciate them very much :)) last friday i went to see 'marie antoinette'. i really liked sophia coppolas other two movies. i especially liked 'lost in translation' because it communicates so well through the pictures alone; more than other movies. It is such a quiet and sort of slow movie, so that each picture can sink in. 'marie antoinette' is not like that. one can indulge in the most beautiful fabrics, shoes and sets. also, i haven't seen a film lately which featured this many beautiful pictures of desserts. i would like to know their bill with the french patissiers...beautiful pic-nic and boat ride scenes at day and night, reminding constantly of watteau and gainsborough paintings. all of this is beautiful and worth seeing. it stays on this surface, however. although i liked the different approach to the story, and despite the ending, the movie didn't really touch me. on my way home, i took the subway and had a check with reality. i couldn't help but wonder what it would look like when in dark november in an irrelevant former industrial town in germany ladies would still wear flowers, feathers and funny little birds in their hair...would have been quite a change to all the black/brown/grey clad people around...i'm still glad though we have democracy by now :) lisa was so kind to mention me in her lovely blog which send me some visitors over :: thanks so much, lisa :) a warning: this might become the flower show for the next couple of days...i took a lot of pictures over the weekend :)) posted by anne Nov 06, 2006 - 14:51 archived under: all, flowers & plants all images under copyright © all rights reserved
