 :: as a reminder, that days are starting to get longer and there will eventually be sunny days again :: for now we are having an ice-cold cloudy mess :: please warm yourselves :: :: finding a place to live here really was a hustle :: living in dortmund before we had to take a 4 hour drive to hamburg to look at apartments :: the situation: very few places, prices in the sky :: the result: hardly anyone returning your calls after leaving a message, visiting-appointments were take-it-or-leave-it opportunities on weekdays, moviesque situations where you would look at places with about thirty or so other people, standing in line the stairs up :: tons of other humiliations :: be sure it was no fun :: bravely we fought through this mess :: with the date approaching by which we had to find some place to live :: so we spend our time in spring and half-way through summer on the road up and down the country :: many times in vain, i like to ad :: :: now please look at the picture above :: like in conciliation, hamburg treated us with the most nicest weather during our visits :: the air was balmy, the sun was glistening and the city really was invitingly shining in the most prettiest colors :: many times we enjoyed walks along the river banks in between appointments :: eventually we had a sunny sip by the river :: remember: this citys average temperature is 10 degrees c :: a sunny sky is no regular around here :: :: in the end however - to bring this tale-like post to an end - it all turned out good :: our lovely landlord led one of his beautiful places to us - literally in the last minute - which has pretty much everything we wanted and more and after the frustrating search we thought we'd never find :: learned from this: waiting pays in many ways :: :: a pretty little clip about hamburg is here :: :: if you like the cute song by carolina novoa :: a free download is here :: :: and more links :: todays much loved sz-magazin serves for inspiration :: please take a look at :: photographer robert voit :: inspiring :: :: illustrator carine brancowitz :: love the white, red & blue :: :: photographer thomas struth :: a classic :: :: illustrator finn campbell-notman :: :: or, take a peak at the pages here :: :: i salute anyone out there currently on the appartment-hunt :: be brave :: :: and please all warm yourselves :: posted by anne Jan 04, 2008 - 23:24 archived under: all, foodies, polaroid, hamburg all images under copyright © all rights reserved
