:: this is the cover of last months italian vogue which contains a fashion story with a country / amish / hutterite theme by steven meisel :: i'm very thankful that mav was the first to point these out :: when i saw these pictures i fell instantly in love :: since then, these photos have become quite the blog-craze :: i can't remember on how many blogs i saw them :: :: for the whole photo series go :: here:: :: for more photos by steven meisel go :: here :: :: you probably ask yourself *what does this have to do with a photobook ?* :: when i saw the fashion series, a book i own for quite some time came instantly to my mind :: :: hutterite: a world of grace :: by american photographer kristin capp :: :: in this book photographer kristin capp takes a journey in time when she visits a hutterite colony in washington state in the u.s. :: she eventually becomes friends with some of the hutterites and is able to take some amazing photos of this retreated and closed community :: when you think about the vogue editorial as a really fabulous fashion story, made up after all , then this book is sort of the *real deal * :: :: although i own that book for almost 10 years :: it dates 1998 :: the photos still fascinate me :: they have a timelessness about them :: it is as if time stands still and watching these portraits makes you feel like you could hear their souls breathe :: truly amazing art :: :: to see some pages of the book :: go :: here :: picking was so hard :: :: sadly, it is out of print :: but there are a few used ones around on amazon :: here :: :: sometimes it's nice to see who's behind the lense :: go here :: to hear photographer kristin capp speak about a photography workshop she held at the spokane indian reservation :: :: enjoy :: :: happy monday :: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * photo book week * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * posted by anne Mar 10, 2008 - 17:02 archived under: all, foodies, polaroid all images under copyright © all rights reserved
