:: some fruit to start the week and todays photobook ::

:: starting today i do photobook week around here :: that means i will be sharing some of my favorite photobooks with you during this week :: as i said earlier :: you're invited to join anytime ::

:: remember this ? ::

:: this is the cover of last months italian vogue which contains a fashion story with a country / amish / hutterite theme by steven meisel :: i'm very thankful that
mav was the first to point these out :: when i saw these pictures i fell instantly in love :: since then, these photos have become quite the blog-craze :: i can't remember on how many blogs i saw them ::

:: for the whole photo series go :: here::
:: for more photos by steven meisel go :: here ::

:: you probably ask yourself *what does this have to do with a photobook ?* :: when i saw the fashion series, a book i own for quite some time came instantly to my mind ::

:: hutterite: a world of grace :: by american photographer kristin capp ::

:: in this book photographer kristin capp takes a journey in time when she visits a hutterite colony in washington state in the u.s. :: she eventually becomes friends with some of the hutterites and is able to take some amazing photos of this retreated and closed community :: when you think about the vogue editorial as a really fabulous fashion story, made up after all , then this book is sort of the *real deal * ::

:: although i own that book for almost 10 years :: it dates 1998 :: the photos still fascinate me :: they have a timelessness about them :: it is as if time stands still and watching these portraits makes you feel like you could hear their souls breathe :: truly amazing art ::

:: to see some pages of the book :: go :: here :: picking was so hard ::

:: sadly, it is out of print :: but there are a few used ones around on amazon :: here ::

:: sometimes it's nice to see who's behind the lense :: go here :: to hear photographer kristin capp speak about a photography workshop she held at the spokane indian reservation ::

:: enjoy ::
:: happy monday ::
