trying to record this for me somehow.

headline reads *the world celebrates: obama becomes president.*

i think that's so true. this has made so many people happy all over the world.

it's special and inspiring. such a good thing!

it's almost like spring in november.

and it feels like things are set for renewal.

recently at the park. i like this for the color, substance and texture.

and now for something completely different, as the famous saying goes, and that is the american election which is just so very much on my mind these days.

i was pondering all weekend over wether to post about this or not. after all: i'm german so obviously i'm not even participating and i was thinking if this would feel strange to some people.

and yet i can't remember when an american election got me so exited as this one and there was just so much coverage and talk about it as with this one. you would have needed to dig yourself a very deep hole and be living in it for a very long time to have this pass you by. i know i have peeps coming in here from all corners of the world and i wonder what it is like around where you live?

i'm just so very very excited by this historic decision that is about to happen. it is giving me thrills and goosebumps, i can't help it. i need to make up my mind yet, whether i will be staying up very very very late on tuesday night or getting up super-early on wednesday morning, depending on when results are expected to come in.

and so at least for today i would like to leave all the cynicism and sarkasm aside that usually accompanies all things political and says: 'oh well, after all it's just all the same and it doesn't make a difference.' and instead i would like to think: wouldn't it be a very good thing to have barack obama be elected? and i really would like to believe that some of that good will somehow trickle down to some other corners of the world where it's so badly needed. wouldn't this election be finally something good in the succession of catastrophies that usually make up for the news? maybe this one is the difference.

so, obviously i'm no political analyst, i'm a photographer, and there's one thing that's so very obvious: the camera treats the man very kindly. which is why i bring you this small selection of photos of the man of the hour. what strikes me most in these is the humanity.

below: some more fall fruit taken home - some didn't make it to their first shooting, they have been eaten before.

so, last week we made the effort and left the city for the coutry-side for a day. to take walks, enjoy the weather and pick up some apples. as always in these cases we were talking again about feeling torn between country and city. we both enjoy living in the city and see that it has a lot of good sides, yet we both miss nature sometimes. so we had these *wouldn't it be nice?* thoughts and ideas pop up like about being closer to nature and having a little garden (although knowing that having a little veggie-patch is quite a lot of work, but still...?). so here i am today, hearing the train drive by and dream about planting my own onions and cosmeas one day. it's always good to have some plans.

yesterday we decided to head to the coast, because the weather was just too beautiful to stay in the city. it was plain lovely. i'm glad we made the effort: today the weather is back to autumn yuckiness.
